Saint Giles

Collect for the Feast of Saint Giles

Grant, we beseech thee, O Lord,
that the prayers of thy holy Abbot, blessed Giles
may commend us unto thee:
that we, who have no power of ourselves to help ourselves,
may by his advocacy find favour in thy sight.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Your Son, who being God,
lives and reigns with You
in the unity of the same Holy Spirit,
forever and ever
Amen.

Novena to St. Giles (One of the Fourteen Holy Helpers

PREPARATORY PRAYER

Almighty and eternal God! With lively faith and reverently worshipping Your Divine Majesty, I prostrate myself before You and invoke with filial trust Your supreme generosity and mercy. Illuminate the darkness of my intellect with a ray of Your Heavenly light and inflame my heart with the fire of Your Divine Love, that I may contemplate the great virtues and merits of the Saint in whose honor I make this novena, and following their example imitate, as they did, the life of Your Divine Son.

Moreover, I beseech You to graciously grant me, through the merits and intercession of this powerful Helper, the petition which through them I humbly place before You, devoutly saying, “Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.”

Vouchsafe graciously to hear it, if it is to Your greater glory and the salvation of my soul. Amen.

PRAYER IN HONOR OF ST. GILES

O God, we beseech You to grant us through the merits and intercession of St. Giles to flee from the vanity and praise of this world, to carefully avoid all occasions of sin, to cleanse our hearts from all wickedness by a sincere confession, to leave this world in Your love and rich in good works, and to find You gracious on the day of judgment. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

INVOCATION OF ST. GILES

Zealous follower of Christ, St. Giles, you took to heart from your early youth the words of our Savior: “Learn of Me, because I am meek and humble of heart.”

Because of this, you fled from the praise and honors of the world, and were rewarded with the grace of preserving your heart from all sin and persevering in a holy life until old age.

On my part, I have through pride, self-confidence, and negligence, yielded to my evil inclinations, and through this sinned grievously and often, offending my God and Lord, my Creator and Redeemer, my most loving Father.

Therefore I implore you to help me through your mighty intercession to be enlightened by the Holy Spirit, that I may know the malice, grievousness, and multitude of my sins.

Grant that I may confess them humbly, fully, and contritely, and receive pardon, tranquillity of heart, and peace of conscience from God. Amen.

Saint Gregory the Great

The Seven Prayers of St. Gregory

(I) O Lord Jesus, I adore you hanging on the Cross, bearing the thorny crown on your head. I beg you, that your Cross may free me from the Angel. Amen. Our Father. Hail Mary.

(II) O Lord Jesus, I adore you wounded on the Cross, having drunk vinegar and gall. I beg you, that your wounds may be the remedy of my soul. Amen. Our Father. Hail Mary.

(III) O Lord Jesus, I ask by that bitterness of your Passion, which you underwent in the hour of your death, especially at that time when your most holy soul departed from your blessed body, to have mercy on my soul in its departure from my body, and lead it into eternal life. Amen. Our Father. Hail Mary.

(IV) O Lord Jesus, I adore you placed in the tomb, embalmed with myrrh and spices. I beg you, that your death may be my life. Amen. Our Father. Hail Mary.

(V) O Lord Jesus, I adore you descending into hell and freeing your captives from that place. I beg you, that you may never allow me to enter there. Amen. Our Father. Hail Mary.

(VI) O Lord Jesus, I adore you rising from the dead, and ascending into heaven, and sitting at the right hand of the Father. I beg you, that I may merit to follow you there and to be presented to you. Amen. Our Father. Hail Mary.

(VII) O Lord Jesus, good Shepherd, preserve the just, pardon sinners, have mercy on all the faithful, and be well-disposed to me, a wretched and unworthy sinner. Amen. Our Father. Hail Mary.

St. Gregory: An Easter Prayer

It is only right,
with all the powers of our heart and mind,
to praise You Father and Your Only-Begotten Son,
Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Dear Father,
by Your wondrous condescension
of Loving-Kindness toward us, Your servants,
You gave up Your Son.
Dear Jesus You paid the debt of Adam for us
to the Eternal Father
by Your Blood poured forth in Loving-Kindness.
You cleared away the darkness of sin
by Your magnificent and radiant Resurrection.
You broke the bonds of death
and rose from the grave as a Conqueror.
You reconciled Heaven and earth.
Our life had no hope of Eternal Happiness
before You redeemed us.
Your Resurrection has washed away our sins,
restored our innocence and brought us joy.
How inestimable is the tenderness of Your Love!

We pray You, Lord,
to preserve Your servants in the peaceful enjoyment
of this Easter happiness.
We ask this through Jesus Christ Our Lord,
Who lives and reigns with God The Father,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
forever and ever.
Amen.

Prayer of St. Gregory the Great

Acclaim To The Suffering Christ O Lord, You received affronts without number from Your blasphemers, yet each day You free captive souls from the grip of the ancient enemy.

You did not avert Your face from the spittle of perfidy, yet You wash souls in saving waters.

You accepted Your scourging without murmur, yet through your meditation You deliver us from endless chastisements.

You endured ill-treatment of all kinds, yet You want to give us a share in the choirs of angels in glory everlasting.

You did not refuse to be crowned with thorns, yet You save us from the wounds of sin.

In your thirst You accepted the bitterness of gall, yet You prepare Yourself to fill us with eternal delights.

You kept silence under the derisive homage rendered You by Your executioners, yet You petition the Father for us although You are his equal in Divinity.

You came to taste death, yet You were the Life and had come to bring it to the dead.

Amen.

Saint Teresa of Calcutta

The Daily Prayer of Mother Teresa (Written by Bl. Cardinal John Henry Newman)

Dear Jesus, help us to spread your fragrance
everywhere we go.
Flood our souls with your spirit and life.
Penetrate and possess our whole being so utterly
that our lives may only be a radiance of yours.

Shine through us and be so in us
that every soul we come in contact with
may feel your presence in our soul.
Let them look up and see no longer us, but only Jesus.

Stay with us and then we shall begin to shine as you shine,
so to shine as to be light to others.
The light, O Jesus, will be all from you.
None of it will be ours.
It will be you shining on others through us.

Let us thus praise you in the way you love best
by shining on those around us.
Let us preach you without preaching,
not by words, but by our example;
by the catching force –
the sympathetic influence of what we do,
the evident fullness of the love our hearts bear to you. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Teresa of Calcutta

Saint Teresa of Calcutta, Jesus called you to bring the light of His love to those who live in darkness. By tender, loving care for the poorest and the neediest, you became the sign of God’s presence, His love and compassion in the midst of suffering and pain.

Following your example, help us to recognize the face of Jesus in our suffering brothers and sisters and to serve Him with humility and joy. Teach us to be carriers of God’s tender love and mercy and so bear witness that God still loves the world through each one of us.
Amen.

Petition to Saint Teresa of Calcutta

Saint Teresa, you who have seen Christ Himself in the
Poorest of the Poor and had compassion on them, please help us.

Glance upon… [Name], who is in need of help, with your
compassionate eyes and see Christ within (them/him/her).

As you loved and served Jesus through your work upon earth,
we humbly ask that you continue your work in heaven and intercede
for us in our needs. Having looked upon… [Name],
please turn your compassionate eyes to Jesus, as you adored
in the Holy Eucharist, and present our request.

While we are not as materially destitute as those you served on earth,
we reach out to you in the poorness of our souls and seek Jesus
through you. Kindly Mother Teresa, help us. Amen.

… Saint Teresa of Calcutta, Pray for Us …

Prayer for the Intercession of Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, you allowed the thirsting love of Jesus on the Cross to become a living flame within you, and so became the light of His love to all. Obtain from the Heart of Jesus (Here make your request). Teach me to allow Jesus to penetrate and possess my whole being so completely that my life, too, may radiate His light and love to others. Amen.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, Cause of Our Joy, pray for me.
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, pray for me.

Give Us a Heart:

Give us a heart as beautiful, pure, and spotless as yours.
A heart like yours, so full of love and humility.
May we be able to receive Jesus as the Bread of Life,
to love Him as you loved Him,
to serve Him under the mistreated face of the poor.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

St. Teresa of Calcutta’s Prayer for Priests

Mary, Mother of Jesus, throw your mantle of purity over our priests.

Protect them, guide them, and keep them in your heart.
Be a Mother to them, especially in times of discouragement and loneliness.
Love them and keep them belonging completely to Jesus.

Like Jesus, they, too, are your sons, so keep their hearts pure and virginal.
Keep their minds filled with Jesus, and put Jesus always on their lips,
so that he is the one they offer to sinner and to all they meet.

Mary, Mother of Jesus, be their Mother,
loving them and bringing them joy.
Take special care of sick and dying priests, and the ones most tempted.
Remember how they spent their youth and old age,
their entire lives serving and giving all to Jesus.

Mary, bless them and keep a special place for them in your heart.
Give them a piece of your heart, so beautiful and pure and immaculate,
so full of love and humility, so that they, too, can grow in the likeness of Christ.
Dear Mary, make them humble like you, and holy like Jesus.

Blessed Frédéric Ozanam

Prayer for the Canonization of Blessed Frédéric Ozanam

unity, simplicity, humility,
and the fire of love
that burned in St. Vincent de Paul

Saint Peter Claver

Prayer to Saint Peter Claver

O God, who made Saint Peter Claver a slave of slaves
and strengthened him with wonderful charity and patience
as he came to their help,
grant, through his intercession,
that, seeking the things of Jesus Christ,
we may love our neighbor in deeds and in truth.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

St. Peter Claver Novena

Lord, for love of you St. Peter Claver became the faithful servant of slaves. Through his prayer help us to see the true dignity of the human family, all children of one father and to spend ourselves for their salvation. We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.

(Mention your request here…)

St. Peter Claver, pray for us.

Say 1: Our Father… Say 1: Hail Mary… Say 1: Glory Be…

Prayer

Dear saint of our modern times,
you were permeated with compassion for the oppressed,
for human beings sold as slaves.
While alleviating their natural ills,
you also took away their spiritual ills,
and taught them the surpassing knowledge of Christ.
Inspire many of our contemporaries
to become self-sacrificing missionaries like you.
Amen.

The Claver Prayer

God, our Heavenly Father, You have given us life through the Death and Resurrection of Your Beloved Son, Jesus Christ;

Jesus, our Saving Lord, You came into a world darkened by man’s sin and gave it light through your teachings;

Holy Spirit, the Breath of God within us, You guide and enlighten us and give us the strength of our convictions;

Saint Peter Claver, who became an example for us, you showed us the Love of God, the light of Christ, and the strength of the Holy Spirit;

We pray now that all we say and do in your honor, be a continuation of your work here on earth.

ST. PETER CLAVER, PRAY FOR US!

Who with Thee and the Holy Ghost liveth and reigneth,

Saint Thomas of Villanova

I will love you, Lord, in every way
and without setting limits to my love.
You set no limits to what you have done for me,
you have not measured out your gifts.
I will not measure out my love.
I will love you, Lord,
with all my strength, with all my powers,
as much as I am able.

Prayer to Saint Thomas of Villanova

God our Father we praise and thank you for giving us your faithful servant Saint Thomas of Villanova to be our model in humility, simplicity and charity. Through his intercession, look kindly upon us your children, bless us and keep us from all harm, deliver us from all evil and guide us to the path that leads to you. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer to St. Thomas of Villanova

Most glorious Saint Thomas, pattern of Christian perfection and perfect model of priestly zeal, by that glory which as a reward of thy merits, has been granted thee in heaven, turn thine eyes of mercy upon us and come to our assistance before the throne of the Most High. While living on earth thou didst have as thy chief characteristic the very charity of Christ. Armed with this thou didst spend thine entire life in giving aid to the wretched, counsel to the doubtful, and consolation to the afflicted; thou didst draw back to the paths of virtue those who had gone astray, thus bringing to Jesus Christ the souls redeemed by His Precious Blood. Now that thou art so powerful in heaven, continue thy task of giving help to all and be our watchful protector, so that, through thine intercession, being delivered from all temporal misfortunes and confirmed in our faith and in love, we may be victors in our struggle with the powers of evil and may merit with thee to praise and bless our Lord through all eternity. Amen.

PRAYER – Heavenly Father, grant us the grace to withold our anger, to always put a guard on our tongues and to speak with charity. St Thomas of Villanova, you preached temperance in all things and lived a life of charity in word and deed, please pray for us, Amen.

Saint Cyprian

SAINT CYPRIAN PRAYER TO MAKE MONEY

“Save St. Cyprian, make much money, wealth and fortune forever with me. Saint Cyprian bring me a lot of money, wealth and fortune.

Just as the rooster crows, the donkey rumbles, the bell rings, the goat screams, so you Saint Cyprian will bring me much money, wealth, and fortune.

Just as the sun comes up, the rain falls, let St. Cyprian make money, wealth, and fortune over me (your name), so be it.

Trapped under my left foot, with two eyes I see money, wealth, and fortune, with three I hold, money, wealth, and fortune, with my Guardian Angel I ask that much money, wealth, and fortune to come to me. Like a creeping snake that money, wealth, and fortune only feel very close to me, can’t stay with the undeserving, doesn’t stay with anyone but me, meets all my wants, buying whatever I want, spending as I please, never make me suffer for running out of money, that when I always sleep and wake up there’s money, wealth, and fortune inside my house, my purse, my pocket, at my business place or wherever I am.

May money, wealth, and fortune not be far from me, that their values are always high, very high, turned to me alone, that St. Cyprian money, wealth, and fortune be very valuable to me. So be it. By the power of St. Cyprian, so be it. May a great deal of money, wealth, and fortune come after me, so that we may have comfort, fame, power, health, help the needy, have a good life and be happy.

I ask Saint Cyprian, that money, wealth, and fortune seek me today, I ask this to the power of the Three Black Souls who watch over Saint Cyprian, so be it. May money, wealth, and fortune come all at once to my home, my life, my family, and my business. Let the enemies not see us, see us ever, so be it, it will be so, it is done.

O St. Cyprian and the Three Black Souls watching over St. Cyprian, heed my request.”

PRAYER OF ST. CYPRIAN TO CLOSE THE BODY

“Lord God, the merciful, omnipotent, and just Father, who sent your son our Lord Jesus Christ to the world for our salvation, answer our prayer, deigning yourselves to order the evil spirit or spirits that torment your servant (say now the name of the person itself), that get away from here, get out of your body.

You gave St. Peter the keys of heaven and earth, saying to him, ‘what you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, what you loose on earth will be turned off in heaven.’ (The officiant with the key in his right hand makes a sign on the person’s chest – or on his own – as if closing a door).

In your name, prince of the apostles, blessed St. Peter, the body of (now say the name of the person itself). St. Peter closes the door of this soul so that the spirits of darkness do not enter, ever!

The infernal powers will not prevail over God’s law, for St. Peter is closing that door. From now on, the devil can no longer penetrate this body, the temple of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

After praying St. Cyprian’s prayer to close the body, pray a Creed, and Our Father, and a Hail Mary.

SAINT CYPRIAN’S PRAYER AGAINST BROKENNESS AND EVIL EYE

“God, heed my request, come to my rescue. Come help me. Confused, let those who seek my soul be ashamed (make the sign of the Cross).
Go back and let those who wish me evil be ashamed. They soon return full of confusion who say to me: Well, well (make the sign of the Cross).
Rejoice and rejoice in you who seek you, and those who love your salvation, say, May the Lord be great (make the sign of the cross).
You are my favourer and my deliverer, Lord God, do not delay.
Glory be to the Father, the Son and the Divine Holy Spirit. Amen!”

Most Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Prayer to Holy Name of Mary

Mary, how sweetly falls thy name
On my enraptured ear;
Oft do I say in holy love
Thy name when none are near.
Sing oh, my lips, and loudly proclaim,
Oh Mary, my Mother, how sweet is thy name.
Sweet as the warbling of a bird,
Sweet as a Mother’s voice;
So sweet to me is thy dear name;
It makes my soul rejoice.
Bright as the glittering stars appear,
Bright as the moonbeam’s shine,
So bright in my mind’s eye is seen
Thy loveliness divine!

MOST HOLY NAME OF MARY NOVENA

O great Mother of God and my Mother Mary, it is true that I am unworthy to name thee; but thou, who lovest me and desirest my salvation, must, notwithstanding the impurity of my tongue, grant that I may always invoke thy most holy and powerful name in my aid, for thy name is the succor of the living, and the salvation of the dying. Ah, most pure Mary, most sweet Mary, grant that henceforth thy name may be the breath of my life. O Lady, delay not to help me when I invoke thee, for in all the temptations which assail me, and in all my wants, I will never cease calling upon thee, and repeating again and again, Mary, Mary. Thus it is that I hope to act during my life, and more particularly at death, that after that last struggle I may eternally praise thy beloved name in heaven, O clement, O pious, O sweet Virgin Mary.

Ah, Mary, most amiable Mary, with what consolation, what sweetness, what confidence, what tenderness, is my soul penetrated in only naming, in only thinking of thee! I thank my Lord and God, who, for my good, has given thee a name so sweet and deserving of love, and at the same time so powerful. But, my sovereign Lady, I am not satisfied with only naming thee, I wish to name thee with love: I desire that my love may every hour remind me to call on thee, so that I may be able to exclaim with St. Bonaventure, “O name of the Mother of God, thou art my love.” My own dear Mary, O my beloved Jesus, may your most sweet names reign in my heart, and in all hearts. Grant that I may forget all others to remember, and always invoke, your adorable names alone. Ah! Jesus my Redeemer, and my Mother Mary, when the moment of death comes when I must breathe forth my soul and leave this worid, deign, through your merits, to grant that I may then pronounce my last words, and that they may be, “I love thee, O Jesus; I love thee, O Mary; to you do I give my heart and my soul.” Amen

O Lord Jesus Christ, open the eyes of my heart that I may hear your Word, and understand and do your will, for I am a sojourner upon the Earth.Hide not your commandments from me, but open my eyes, that I may perceive the wonders of your Law.Speak unto me the hidden and secret things of your wisdom. On you do I set my hope, O my God, that you shall enlighten my mind and understanding with the light of your knowledge; not only to cherish those things which are written, but to do them; For you are the enlightenment of those who lie in darkness, and from you comes every good deed and every gift. Almighty God, who has given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplications to you and promised that when two or three are gathered together in your name you will grant their requests: fulfill now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of your servants, as may be most expedient for them; granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the world to come life everlasting. Exaltation of the Holy Cross

PRAYER TO THE HOLY CROSS

Oh, Adorable Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, You have suffered death on the Cross for our sins.

Oh, Holy Cross of Jesus, be my true light!
Oh, Holy Cross, fill my soul with good thoughts.
Oh, Holy Cross, ward off from me all things that are evil.
Oh, Holy Cross, ward off from me all dangers and deaths and give me life everlasting!
Oh, Crucified Jesus of Nazareth, have mercy on me now and forever.

In honor of the Precious Blood of Jesus, his death, resurrection and ascension which leads to everlasting life; true as Jesus was born on Christmas Day; true as Jesus was crucified on Good Friday; true as Joseph and Nicodemus took Jesus down from the cross and buried Him; true as Jesus ascended into Heaven; may He preserve me from my enemies visible and invisible forever.

Oh, Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me! Mary and Joseph pray for me.
Lord Jesus Christ, through Your suffering the Cross grant me strength to bear my Cross without fear or dread and give me the grace that I may follow You. Amen.

PRAYER ON THE FEAST OF THE EXALTATION OF THE HOLY CROSS

O God, who willed that Your Only Begotten Son
should undergo the Cross to save the human race,
grant, we pray,
that we, who have known his mystery on earth,
may merit the grace of his redemption in heaven.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

PRAYER:

God of Glory, The Cross shines as a sign Of obedience to your will And a symbol of your love For the world. Bless us who find salvation In the cross of Christ; May we always recognise his glory In the weak, suffering and condemned of the world. We ask this through Christ, crucified and exalted, who is Lord forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer Before The Cross

Jesus, by this saving sign,
bless this listless soul of mine.
Jesus, by Thy feet nailed fast,
mend the missteps of my past.
Jesus, with Thy riven hands,
bend my will to love’s demands.
Jesus, in Thy Heart laid bare,
warm my inner coldness there.
Jesus, by Thy thorn-crowned head,
still my pride till it is dead.
Jesus, by Thy muted tongue,
stay my words that hurt someone.
Jesus, by Thy tired eyes,
open mine to faith’s surprise.
Jesus, by Thy fading breath,
keep me faithful until death.
Yes, Lord, by this saving sign,
save this wayward soul of mine.

Prayer To Jesus Crucified

Lord Jesus Christ,
I thank Thee for loving me so completely.

Thou didst embrace the Cross so willingly,
Thou didst hang there so patiently,
Thou didst suffere so painfully,
and for me, a sinner,
Thou didst die and rise again on the third day.

Now, Lord, I commend myself to Thy love,
to the power of Thy Passion,
to the depths of Thy endless mercy.

Jesus Christ,
in Thy measureless pity,
keep alive in me the memory
of Thy Holy Wounds and bitter death.

Gentle Jesus,
defend me in all danger,
and keep me so that
I may stand before Thee in joy.

Protect my soul, Lord Jesus Christ,
which Thou hast bought with Thy Precious Blood. Amen.
O Cross of Christ, Immortal Tree
O Cross of Christ, immortal tree On which our Savior died,
The world is sheltered by your arms That bore the Crucified.
From bitter death and barren wood the tree of life is made;
Its branches bear unfailing fruit And leaves that never fade.
Give glory to the risen Christ And to his Cross give praise,
The sign of God’s unfailing love, The hope of all our days.

Our Lady of Sorrows

Prayer to Our Lady of Sorrows

O most holy Virgin, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ: by the overwhelming grief you experienced when you witnessed the martyrdom, the crucifixion, and death of your divine Son, look upon me with eyes of compassion, and awaken in my heart a tender commiseration for those sufferings, as well as a sincere detestation of my sins, in order that being disengaged from all undue affection for the passing joys of this earth, I may sigh after the eternal Jerusalem, and that henceforward all my thoughts and all my actions may be directed towards this one most desirable object. Honor, glory, and love to our divine Lord Jesus, and to the holy and immaculate Mother of God. Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Sorrows

Our mother of sorrows, with strength from above you stood by the cross, sharing in the sufferings of Jesus, and with tender care you bore him in your arms, mourning and weeping.

We praise you for your faith, which accepted the life God planned for you. We praise you for your hope, which trusted that God would do great things in you. We praise you for your love in bearing with Jesus the sorrows of his passion.

Holy Mary, may we follow your example, and stand by all your children who need comfort and love.

Mother of God, stand by us in our trials and care for us in our many needs. Pray for us now and at the hour of our death.

Amen!

A Prayer to Our Lady of Sorrows

O holy Mother, most afflicted by the bitter sorrow which you endured at the foot of the cross during the three hours’ agony of Jesus: we implore you, the children of your sorrows, in our last agony, that through your intercession we may pass from the bed of death to form a crown for you in heaven.
Pray 3 Our Fathers

Pray 3 Hail Marys

O Mary, Mother of grace, Mother of mercy, protect us from the enemy and receive us at the hour of death.
From sudden or unprovided death.
O Lord, deliver us.

From the snares of the devil,
O Lord, deliver us.

From everlasting death,
O Lord, deliver us.

Let us pray. O God, who for the salvation of mankind gave an example and a help in the Passion and Death of your Son: grant, we beseech you, that in the hour of our death, we may experience the effects of this, your charity, and deserve to be partakers in the glory of Him, our Redeemer, through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
I give you my heart and my soul.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
Assist me in my last agony.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
May I breathe forth my soul in peace with you. Amen.

Prayers to Our Lady of Sorrows

O most holy and afflicted Virgin! Queen of Martyrs! thou who didst stand motionless beneath the Cross, witnessing the agony of thy expiring Son–through the unceasing sufferings of thy life of sorrow, and the bliss which now more than amply repays thee for thy past trials, look down with a mother’s tenderness and pity on me, who kneel before thee to venerate thy Dolors, and place my requests, with filial confidence, in the sanctuary of thy wounded heart; present them, I beseech thee, on my behalf, to Jesus Christ, through the merits of His own most sacred death and passion, together with thy sufferings at the foot of the cross, and through the united efficacy of both obtain the grant of my present petition. To whom shall I resort in my wants and miseries if not to thee, O Mother of Mercy, who, having so deeply drunk of the chalice of thy Son, canst compassionate the woes of those who still sigh in the land of exile? Offer for me to my Savior one drop of the Blood which flowed from His sacred veins, one of the tears which trickled from His divine eyes, one of the sighs which rent His adorable Heart. O refuge of the universe and hope of the whole world, do not reject my humble prayer, but graciously obtain the grant of my petition.

Saint Januarius

PRAYER TO SAINT JANUARIUS

Oh Gennaro, brave of faith in Jesus Christ, glorious patron of Catholic Naples, looks upon us benignly and accepts our vows, that today we lie at your feet with total confidence in your powerful patronage.

How many times have you run to help your fellow citizens, now stopping in the path of the destructive lava of Vesuvius, and now saving us from plague, earthquakes, famine and many other divine punishments that terrify us.

The perpetual miracle of the liquefaction of your blood is a sure and extremely eloquent sign that you live among us, that you know our needs and that you protect us in a singular way.

Oh, we pray you to pray for us, sure that we will be answered; and saved from all the evils that oppress us from all directions.

Save us from unbelief, and you will see that the faith, by which you have generously sacrificed your life, always, always produces fertile fruits of saints made among us.

Saint Andrew Kim Tae-gon and his companions
a most fruitful seed of Christians,
grant that we may be defended by their help
and profit always from their example.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Prayer

O God, you have created all nations and you are their salvation. In the land of Korea your call to Catholic faith formed a people of adoption, whose growth you nurtured by the blood of Andrew, Paul, and their companions. Through their martyrdom and their intercession grant us strength that we too may remain faithful to your commandments even until death. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Praying the Chaplet of St. Andrew Kim Taegon

Opening Prayer on the Crucifix:

O God, who have been pleased to increase your adopted children in all the world, and who made the blood of the Martyrs Saint Andrew Kim Tae-gon and his companions a most fruitful seed of Christians, grant that we may be defended by their help and profit always from their example. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Intention: (on the cord after the Crucifix) Saint Andrew Kim Taegon, you followed the Lord’s Call and journeyed to Macao to enter seminary. Please pray for our priests and seminarians as they serve with love as you did.
Reading from his letters from prison: “God orders all things in this world. God permits even persecutions. As you wait in patient submission, pray earnestly for speedy peace. My death will be a loss to you physically and spiritually, but before long God will send you another shepherd better than I. So do not grieve, but practice greater charity and serve the Lord so that we may meet again in God’s eternal mansion.”

3 Our Fathers

Intention: Saint Andrew Kim Taegon, in serving the Korean people you underwent trials and tribulations. Please pray for us to always trust in the Lord.

3 Hail Mary’s

Intention: Saint Andrew Kim Taegon, you were imprisoned because you were a Christian and martyred for your faith. Please help us spread the love of Jesus wherever we are as you did.

3 Glory Be’s

Intention: Saint Andrew Kim Taegon, you greatly inspired your people who had contact with you. Pray that others will see the Lord in us as they did in you.

Reading: “So it is the Lord regards the world as His field and us as His seedlings. He fertilizes us with grace and waters us with the Blood of the Savior that we might grow and produce grain. At the judgment, harvest time, those who produce the fruits of grace will be justified and the others will receive just punishment.”

Closing Prayer on the Medal:

O God, you have created all nations and you are their salvation. In the land of Korea your call to Catholic faith formed a people of adoption, whose growth you nurtured by the blood of Andrew, Paul, and their companions. Through their martyrdom and their intercession grant us strength that we too may remain faithful to your commandments even until death. Saint Andrew Kim Dae-gon, you led others in service to Christ. You said “We will soon be going out to the battlefield. Take good care and let us meet again in Heaven. I love you and cannot forget you. I beg you, in these troubled times do not be led astray. Pray to the Lord Day and night to overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil. Be steadfast in persecution. Put eternal glory first and work for the salvation of your souls.” Please pray that we will love abundantly in our service to others. We ask all these things through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Stay with me Lord, for You are my light, and without you, I am in darkness.

Stay with me Lord, to show me Your will.

Stay with me Lord, so that I hear Your voice and follow You.

Stay with me Lord, for I desire to love you very much, and always be in Your Company.

Stay with me Lord, if You wish me to be faithful to You.

Stay with me Lord, for as poor as my soul is, I want it to be a place of consolation for You, a nest of Love.

Stay with me, Jesus, for it is getting late, and the day is coming to a close, and life passes, death, judgment, eternity approach. It is necessary to renew my strength, so that I will not stop along the way and for that, I need You. It is getting late and death approaches. I fear the darkness, the temptations, the dryness, the cross, the sorrows. O how I need You, my Jesus, in this night of exile.

Stay with me tonight, Jesus, in life with all its dangers, I need You.

Let me recognize You as Your disciples did at the breaking of bread, so that the Eucharistic Communion be the light which disperses the darkness, the force which sustains me, the unique joy of my heart.

Stay with me Lord, because at the hour of my death, I want to remain united to you, if not by Communion, at least by grace and love.

Stay with me Jesus, I do not ask for divine consolation because I do not merit it, but the gift of Your presence, oh yes, I ask this of You.

Stay with me Lord, for it is You alone I look for, Your Love, Your Grace, Your Will, Your Heart, Your Spirit, because I love You and ask no other reward but to love You more and more.

With a firm love, I will love You with all my heart while on earth and continue to love You perfectly during all eternity. Amen.

Novena to father Pio of Pietrelcina

1ST DAY

Beloved St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have had the signs of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ on your body. You have carried this stigmata for everyone, enduring both the physical and mental sufferings that racked your soul and body in a continual sacrifice. We beg you to pray for us, so that we will be able to accept both the little and the larger crosses we too must bear during our life on earth and to offer these sufferings to God, assuring us a place with him in Eternal Life.

2nd DAY

Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, together with Our Lord Jesus Christ, you’ve been able to withstand the temptations of the Devil. You suffered the beatings and the oppression of the demon of hell, who wanted to have you abandon your journey of holiness. We beg you to pray for us so that, with your help and the help of all of the Heavenly Kingdom, we will be able to find the strength to set sin aside and to persevere in our faith until the day of our death.

3rd DAY

Virtuous St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you love Our Holy Mother very much and have received daily graces and consolations from her. Please, we beg you to pray to the Holy Mother for us. Place in her hands the sorrow for our sins and our prayers of reparation, so that, as at Cana of Galilee, her Son says ‘yes’ to His Mother and our name may be written in the Book of Eternal Life.

4th DAY

Chaste St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you loved your Guardian Angel, who served you well as your guide and as a defender and messenger. The Angels brought the prayers of your spiritual children to you. We beg you to pray for us, so that we may learn to call on our Guardian Angel who is always ready to guide us to what is good and to avoid falling into sinful actions.

5th DAY

Prudent St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have had a great devotion for the Souls in Purgatory for whom you have offered yourself as a victim to remit their punishments. Please pray for us and ask God to send us the same interest, compassion and love that you have for these souls. In this way, we will also contribute to reducing their suffering and, with our sacrifices and prayers, win for them their necessary Indulgences.

6th DAY

Obedient St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have loved the sick more than yourself, because you were able to see Jesus in them. You have performed many miracles by healing patients in the name of Jesus and thereby giving them peace of mind. We beg you to pray for us, so that sick patients, through the intercession of Mary, can be healed and their bodies restored so that they may benefit from the Holy Spirit and, therefore, thank and praise God forever.

7th DAY

Blessed St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have worked in “God’s Plan for Salvation”, by offering your sufferings to free sinners from the chains of the Devil. We beg you to pray for us, so that unbelievers will be converted to the faith, that all sinners will repent in their hearts and that those with lukewarm hearts will find renewed enthusiasm for a Christian life. Finally, pray for all those who are faithful, so that they will persevere on their way to salvation.

8th DAY

Pure St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you experienced great love for your spiritual children and have helped them by purchasing them for Christ with the giving of your blood. Please grant us, who have not met you personally, the opportunity to be considered your spiritual children. In this way, with your protection, guidance and strength, you will obtain for us a special blessing from God, so that we may meet Him on the day of our death at the gates of Heaven.

9th DAY

Humble St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you who loved the Roman Catholic Church, pray for us. May the Master send workers to the harvest and give them the strength and knowledge needed to be children of God. Pray that Our Holy Lady will unite Christian people everywhere, comforting all of them in one great house of the Lord, the lighthouse of our salvation in the storm of life… just as a lighthouse is a beacon for safe return when there is a storm at sea.

Saint John Henry Newman

A Prayer from Saint John Henry Newman

O Lord, support us all the day long,
until the shadows lengthen,
and the evening comes,
and the busy world is hushed,
and the fever of life is over,
and our work is done.
Then in your mercy,
grant us a safe lodging and a holy rest,
and peace at the last.
Amen.

Collect for Saint John Henry Cardinal Newman

O God, who bestowed on the Priest Saint John Henry Newman the grace to follow your kindly light and find peace in your Church; graciously grant that, through his intercession and example, we may be led out of shadows and images into the fulness of your truth. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer for a Happy Death

Oh, my Lord and Savior, support me in that hour in the strong arms of Your Sacraments, and by the fresh fragrance of Your consolations. Let the absolving words be said over me, and the holy oil sign and seal me, and Your own Body be my food, and Your Blood my sprinkling; and let my sweet Mother, Mary, breathe on me, and my Angel whisper peace to me, and my glorious Saints smile upon me; that in them all, and through them all, I may receive the gift of perseverance, and die, as I desire to live, in Your faith, in Your Church, in Your service, and in Your love. Amen.

Fragrance Wherever I Go:

Dear Lord, help me to spread your fragrance wherever I go.
Flood my soul with your spirit and life.
Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly
that all my life may only be a radiance of yours.
Shine through me, and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with
may feel your presence in my soul.

Let them look up and see no longer me, but only you, O Lord!
Stay with me and then I will begin to shine as you do;
so to shine as to be a light to others.
The light, O Lord, will be all from you; none of it will be mine.
It will be you shining on others through me.

Let me thus praise you in the way which you love best,
by shining on those around me.
Let me preach you without preaching,
not by words but by example, by the catching force,
the sympathetic influence of what I do,
the evident fullness of the love my heart bears to you. Amen.

Christian Unity

O Lord Jesus Christ, when you were about to suffer, you prayed for your disciples that they might all be one, as you are in the Father and the Father in you.Look down in pity on the many divisions among those who profess your faith.
Heal the wounds which the pride of man and the craft of satan have inflicted on your people.
Break down the walls of separation which divide Christians.Look with compassion on all souls and bring them together under the Holy Catholic Church.

A Marian prayer of Cardinal John Henry Newman

O Mother of Jesus, and my Mother, let me dwell with you,
cling to you and love you with ever-increasing love.
I promise the honour, love and trust of a child.
Give me a mother’s protection, for I need your watchful care.
You know better than any other the thoughts and desires of the Sacred Heart.
Keep constantly before my mind the same thoughts, the same desires,
that my heart may be filled with zeal for the interests of the Sacred Heart of your Divine Son. Instill in me a love of all that is noble, that I may no longer be easily turned to selfishness. Help me, dearest Mother, to acquire the virtues that God wants of me:
to forget myself always, to work solely for him, without fear of sacrifice.
I shall always rely on your help to be what Jesus wants me to be.
I am his; I am yours, my good Mother!
Give me each day your holy and maternal blessing until my last evening on earth,
when your Immaculate Heart will present me to the heart of Jesus in heaven,
there to love and bless you and your divine Son for all eternity.

Saints Louis Martin and Zelie Guerin

Prayer Intentions

We pray to you, Lord, for our children, for our teenagers, for our parents and our families.
Through the intercession of Saints Louis and Zelie, may the Holy Spirit enliven us and help us to find meaning, a plan for your life.

Prayer to Saints Louis and Zélie Martin

Saints Louis and Zélie Martin,
after having had the desire for religious life,
you heard the Lord’s call to the vocation of marriage.

You are the “parents without equal”
of whom your daughter Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus speaks;
the fortunate parents of Léonie,
the Servant of God, Sister Françoise-Thérèse;

of Marie, Pauline, and Céline,
transplanted to Mount Carmel;
and of the four children
taken from your affection in their youth:
Hélène, Joseph, Jean-Baptiste, and Mélanie-Thérèse.
You gave all glory to God
through your humble and patient work,
your commitment to the poor,
and your family life,
where reigned the happiness
of loving and being loved.

You lived your daily life concretely
through the joys and sorrows of your existence.

You love us as your own children,
with the heart of a father and the heart of a mother,
because you are the friends of God.

Listen to our prayer and our request
(state the request . . . )
and intercede for us with God the Father,
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
in the grace of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Prayer for the Canonization of Louis and Zelie Martin

God of eternal love, you give us Blessed Louis and Zélie Martin, the parents of St. Therese, as an example of holiness in marriage. They remained faithful to you and your commandments in all the duties and trials of life. They desired to raise their children to become saints. May their prayers and example help Christian family life to blossom in our world today. If it be your will, grant us the graces we ask you now through the intercession of Blessed Louis and Zélie Martin, and let them be counted among the saints of your Church.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Parents and spouses, especially, offer this prayer to these great saints:

Blessed Louis and Zélie Martin,
today we turn to you in prayer.

By fulfilling the duties of your state in life
and practicing the evangelical virtues
as spouses and as parents,
you have modelled for us
an exemplary Christian life.

May the example
of your unwavering trust in God
and your constant willingness to surrender
all the joys, the trials,
the sorrows and the sufferings
that filled your life
encourage us to persevere
in our daily challenges
and to remain in joy and Christian hope.

Saint Paul VI

Prayer of Pope Paul VI

Make us worthy Lord, to serve our brothers and sisters throughout the world who live and die in poverty and hunger.
Give them, by our hands this day their daily bread, and by our understanding love, peace and joy. Amen.

COLLECT PRAYER

Grant us, O Lord, we pray, that the course of our world may be directed by your peaceful rule and that your Church may rejoice, untroubled in her devotion. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

Prayer of Pope Paul VI – You Are Our Mother

You Are Our Mother

O Mary, look upon the church, look upon the most responsible members of the Mystical Body of Christ gathered about you to thank you and to celebrate you as their Mystical Mother.

O Mary, bless the great assembly of the hierarchical church, which also gives birth to brothers and sisters of Christ, the firstborn among redeemed humankind.

O Mary, grant that this church of Christ– in defining itself–will acknowledge you as its most chosen mother, daughter, and sister, as well as its incomparable model, its glory, its joy, and its hope.
We ask you now that we may be made worthy of honoring you
because of who your are and because of what you do in the wondrous and loving plan of salvation.
Grant that we may praise you, O holy Virgin! O Mary,
look upon us who are your children,
look upon us who are brothers and sisters,
disciples and apostles and continuation of Jesus.
Make us aware of our vocation and our mission; may we not be unworthy to take on– in our priesthood, in our word, in the offering of our life for the faithful entrusted to us– the representation and personification of Christ.
O you who are full of grace, grant that the priesthood that honors you may itself also be holy and immaculate.

O Mary, we pray to you for our Christian brothers and sisters
who are still separated from our Catholic family.
See how a glorious group of them celebrate your cult with fidelity and love.
See also how among another group, who are so intent on calling themselves Christians, there now dawns the remembrance and the veneration of you,O most holy Lady.
Call these children of yours to the one unity under your motherly and heavenly aid.

O Mary, look upon all mankind, this modern world in which the divine will calls us to live and work.
It is a world that has turned its back on the light of Christ; then it fears and bemoans the frightening shadows that its actions have created on all sides.
May your most human voice,
O most beautiful of virgins,
O most worthy of mothers,
O blessed among women,
invited the world to turn its eyes
toward the life that is the light of man,
toward you who are the precursor-lamp of Christ, Who is the sole and the highest Light of the world.
Implore for the world the true understanding of its own existence;
implore for the world the joy of living as the creation of God and hence the desire and the capacity to converse–by prayer– with its Maker, whose mysterious and blesses image it reflects within itself.Implore for the world the grace to esteem everything as the gift of God and hence the virtue to work with generosity and to make use of such gifts wisely and providently.
Implore peace for the world.
Fashion brothers and sistersout of persons who are so divided.
Guide us to a more ordered and peaceful society.
For those who are suffering– today there are so many and ever new ones, afflicted by current misfortunes– obtain solace;
and for the dead, obtain eternal rest.Show yourself a mother to us; this is our prayer,
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!
Amen.

Saint Vincent de Paul

St. Vincent de Paul Prayer

Lord Jesus, may the example of St. Vincent de Paul inspire us to be generous of hearts and hand to the needy. May our generosity flow from humble gratitude for your many gifts to us, rather than from false pride in our own abilities. We are all needy in our own ways-and so are dependent on your generosity and that of others. Help us to respond willingly to the Gospel call to self-giving love, to look for ways to serve rather than expecting to be served. Amen.

Prayer To St Vincent de Paul

St. Vincent, patron of all charitable associations and father of those who are in misery, come to our assistance.
Obtain from Our Lord, help for the poor, relief for the infirm, consolation for the afflicted, protection for the abandoned, a spirit of generosity for the rich, grace of conversion for sinners, zeal for priests, peace for the Church, tranquillity and order for all nations, and salvation for them all.

May we be united in the life to come, by your intercession, and experience joy, gladness, and everlasting happiness. Amen.

… St Vincent de Paul, Pray for Us …

Prayer For Homeless Persons

O God you are a God of justice, mercy, and compassion. Support us, your servants of the poor, as we endeavor to bring your love and compassion to people who are homeless and in need of your love. We pray that we will see you, our all-loving God in each homeless person we encounter and in our service for those in need. May we do all in our power to support each person reach their potential, so they experience the fullness of life. We ask this prayer through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.

St. Vincent de Paul

Tender God, refuge of the poor, You filled Vincent de Paul with the strength of the apostles to work for the salvation of the poor and the instruction of the clergy. May we who follow the example of his life be driven by unceasing charity to continue the mission of Your Son in the world. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer To St Vincent de Paul I

Noble Saint Vincent de Paul,
beloved servant of the poor,
may we follow your example and do good works
among those whom society has abandoned,
enslaved, or forgotten.
Inspire us to feed the hungry,
to love a child,
to provide comfort and medicine to the sick,
to clothe those whose garments are threadbare,
and to offer hope and our Lord’s words
to all who need respite.
Pray for us to our beloved God
that we may commit ourselves selflessly
to doing the same charitable acts
that you did all your life,
and intercede with him
that we may have the favour of his guidance
and strength and love upon this important and meaningful work. Amen.

Prayer of the Vincentian Family

Lord Jesus, you who willed to become poor, give us eyes and a heart directed toward the poor; help us recognize you in them — in their thirst, their hunger, their loneliness, and their misfortune. Enkindle within our Vincentian Family unity, simplicity, humility, and the fire of love that burned in St. Vincent de Paul. Strengthen us, so that faithful to the practice of these virtues, we may contemplate you and see you in the person of the poor and may one day be united with you and them in your Kingdom. Amen.

Prayer to St. Vincent de Paul

O Glorious Saint Vincent de Paul,
The mention of your name,
Suggests a litany of your virtues:
Humility, zeal, mercy, self-sacrifice.
It also recalls
Your many foundations:
Works of Mercy,
Congregations,
Societies.

The Church gratefully remembers,
Your promotion of the priesthood.
Inspire all Charitable Workers,
Especially those who minister,
To both the spiritually
And the materially poor.

O Lord, give us the grace,
That You bestowed upon,
Your servant St. Vincent de Paul,
To relinquish the temptation,
Of material things,
In our holy effort,
To minister to the poor.
Amen.

The overpowering forces of death
For the sake of his faith in You.

Through his prayers,
Help us to follow his example
By overcoming all life’s trials
And eventually, increase
Our hope and love in You.

You brought honor to your country,
Having been a level-headed
And prudent father of the family,
A witness of Christ in your life
Until your death.

So that by our actions,
We may know more and love more
Jesus our Lord and Savior.

And in honor of your triumph
As a martyr of Christ
And defender of Christianity.

United with him around the table of the Eucharistic Sacrifice, inspire us to surrender ourselves that we may be taken by you, Father, to be blessed, broken, and shared with and for others in love and unity. Amen.

Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael

A Prayer to Saint Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, Archangels

Heavenly King, You have given us archangels to assist us
during our pilgrimage on earth.
Saint Michael is our protector;
I ask him to come to my aid,
fight for all my loved ones,
and protect us from danger.
Saint Gabriel is a messenger of the Good News;
I ask him to help me clearly hear Your voice
and to teach me the truth.
Saint Raphael is the healing angel;
I ask him to take my need for healing and that of everyone I know,
lift it up to Your throne of grace and
deliver us back to the gift of recovery.
Help us, O Lord, to realize more fully the reality of archangels and their desire to serve us. Holy angels, pray for us.
Amen.

Prayer to St. Michael to Protect the Church and her Members

O Glorious St. Michael, guardian and defender of the Church of Jesus Christ, come to the assistance of this Church, against which the powers of hell are unchained, guard with especial care her august head, and obtain that for him and for us the hour of triumph may speedily arrive. O glorious Archangel St. Michael, watch over us during life, defend us against the assaults of the demon, assist us especially at the hour of death; obtain for us a favorable judgment, and the happiness of beholding God face to face for endless ages. Amen.

Prayer to St. Gabriel the Archangel

O Blessed Archangel Gabriel, we beseech thee, do thou intercede for us at the throne of divine Mercy in our present necessities, that as you did announce to Mary the mystery of the Incarnation, so through your prayers and patronage in heaven we may obtain the benefits of the same, and sing the praise of God forever in the land of the living. Amen.

Prayer to St. Raphael the Archangel

O glorious Archangel, St. Raphael, great Prince of the heavenly court, illustrious for your gifts of wisdom and grace, guide of those who journey by land or sea, consoler of the afflicted, and refuge of sinners: I beg you to assist me in all my needs and in all the suffering of this life, as once you did help the young Tobias on his travels. And because you are the “Medicine of God,” I humbly pray to you to heal the many infirmities of my soul, and the ills which afflict my body, it if be for my greater good. I especially ask of you an angelic purity, which may fit me to be the temple of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

CONSECRATION TO THE ARCHANGELS

St. Michael the Archangel, loyal champion of God and His people, I, today offer and consecrate myself to you, and place myself, my family, and all I possess under your most powerful protection, and I turn to you with confidence and seek your powerful intercession. For the love of God, Who made you so glorious in grace and power, and for the love of the Mother of Jesus, the Queen of the Angels, be pleased to hear my prayer. You know the value of my soul in the eyes of God. May no stain of evil ever disfigure its beauty. Help me to conquer the evil spirit who tempts me. I desire to imitate your loyalty to God and Holy Mother Church and your great love for God and people. And since you are God’s messenger for the care of his people, I entrust to you this special request: (Mention your request). St. Michael, since you are, by the Will of the Creator, the powerful intercessor of Christians, I have great confidence in your prayers. I earnestly trust that if it is God’s Holy Will, my petition will be granted. Pray for me, St. Michael, and also for those I love. Protect us in all dangers of body and soul. Help us in our daily needs. Through your powerful intercession, may we live a holy life, die a happy death, and reach heaven where we may praise and love God with you forever. Amen.

Holy Archangel Raphael, standing so close to the throne of God and offering Him our prayers, I, today offer and consecrate myself to you, and place myself, my family, and all I possess under your most powerful protection, and I turn to you with confidence and seek your powerful intercession. I venerate you as God’s special Friend and Messenger. I choose you as my Patron and wish to love and obey you as young Tobiah did. I consecrate to you my body and soul, all my work, and my whole life. I want you to be my Guide and Counselor in all the dangerous and difficult problems and decisions of my life. Remember, dearest, St. Raphael, that the grace of God preserved you with the good Angels in heaven when the proud ones were cast into hell. I entreat you, therefore, to help me in my struggle against the world, the spirit of impurity, and the devil. Defend me from all dangers and every occasion of sin. Direct me always in the way of peace, safety, and salvation. Offer my prayers to God as you offered those of Tobiah, so that through your intercession I may obtain the graces necessary for the salvation of my soul. I ask you to pray that God grant me this favor if it be His holy Will: (Mention your request). St. Raphael, help me to love and serve my God faithfully, to die in His grace, and finally to merit to join you in seeing and praising God forever in heaven. Amen
St. Gabriel the Archangel, I venerate you as the “Angel of the Incarnation,” because God has specially appointed you to bear the messages concerning the God-Man to Daniel, Zechariah, and the Blessed Virgin Mary. I, today offer and consecrate myself to you, and place myself, my family, and all I possess under your most powerful protection, and I turn to you with confidence and seek your powerful intercession. I venerate you also as the “strength from God,” because you are the giver of God’s strength, consoler, and comforter chosen to strengthen God’s faithful and to teach them important truths. I ask for the grace of a special power of the will to strive for holiness of life. Steady my resolutions, renew my courage, comfort, and console me in the problems, trials, and sufferings of daily living, as you consoled our Savior in His agony and Mary in her sorrows and Joseph in his trials. I put my confidence in you. St. Gabriel, I ask you especially for this favor: (Mention your request). Through your earnest love for the Son of God-Made-Man and for His blessed Mother, I beg of you, intercede for me that my request may be granted if it be God’s holy Will.Pray for us, St. Gabriel the Archangel. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us Pray: Almighty and ever-living God, send to our assistance the Archangels, St. Michael, St. Gabriel and St. Raphael. May all who stand before the Throne of Thy Majesty, offer unto You our thanksgiving, praises, and petitions, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and mercifully grant that we who honour your holy Archangels on earth may feel the benefit of their patronage in heaven. You live and reign forever. Amen.

Saint Jerome

A Prayer of Saint Jerome for Christ’s Mercy

O Lord, show Your mercy to me
and gladden my heart.
I am like the man on the way to Jericho
who was overtaken by robbers,
wounded and left for dead.
O Good Samaritan, come to my aid.
I am like the sheep that went astray.
O Good Shepherd, seek me out
and bring me home in accord with Your will.
Let me dwell in Your house all the days of my life
and praise You forever and ever with those who are there.

NOVENA TO SAINT JEROME EMILIANI (Patron of Orphans)

O blessed St. Jerome, our Patron and our guide,
humbly we ask that you intercede for us before God,
and that our petitions this day will be answered.
We ask your blessing on the poor,
the sick and the unemployed of our parish.
Bless all married couples, the young and the old.
Grant that those who have heard the call to serve as ministers of your Church,
will receive a special blessing this day.
Pray for us, St. Jerome,
that our parish community will always remain united
in the love that only Christ can bring.
May your word and example be our strength and our consolation.
Amen.
